Is it rattling impracticable to establish an OS on a computer incase that does not hit a guardian or modify a CD or DVD or disc drive. It has a usb opening however. I do hit a keyboard.
I undergo we crapper do a meshwork establish - but I ease requirement to create something bootable right? To do that I requirement to admittance the BIOS (on a monitor) and modify options to rush from the usb for example.
I hit a laptop which has Win XP installed - would that support in whatever artefact - maybe ingest the laptop monitor.
At this saucer I am disagreeable to encounter discover if it is modify doable to establish whatever OS (linux) without a guardian / CD / DVD / floppy?
Thanks

might want to save yourself time/money and just borrow hardware from someone’s desktop for the install. then use remote desktop or virtual console to do the rest from the laptop.
Yes it’s possible. But it depends on the OS you’re trying to install. But to be honest if you have to ask if it’s possible, it’s probably too advanced for you.
I think you can boot over ethernet, but I would think you would probably have to hook up a monitor no matter how you do it. Although I have never tried any of that, so I can’t say for sure.
Ohh. Wow, quite a task if you ask me. You kind of need a local OS to begin with, even to use a network boot.
Could try this;
Not sure If that would work for you though.
Hi,
As you probably have already figured out, if there is no operating system, all your computer can see is its own bios. If the bios is not already set to load an OS from the USB, you are sort of out of luck. If you knew exactly the keystrokes to set the bios up, maybe you could do it blind, but I have never seen this done and it would be quite a stunt. Until you get an OS installed, your server cannot make any use of the laptop. Best advice: borrow a monitor for half an hour, then give it back.
Good luck!
